The official hydrogen event in Rotterdam spoke to the world’s hydrogen and energy leaders about the future outlook for the hydrogen industry. During our World Hydrogen Awards ceremony, we spoke with the Programme Manager Electrification and Hydrogen for Port of Rotterdam, Randolf Weterings, following him picking up the World Hydrogen Future Leader award.
Congratulations on winning the World Hydrogen Future Leader award? How are you feeling?
So, I’ve been awarded for the future leader. I feel really honored to get this prize.
It was already in honor to be part of the nominees and I’m getting this award of course is very good especially getting this recognition by colleagues in this field of hydrogen.
Why do yuou think you have won the award?
So, we work already for quite a quite some while on the Hydrogen economy within the port of Rotterdam and we started with a few small projects within the port. And since, well, since four years, I would say we are really accelerating this hydrogen economy. We set-up the vision and we are now working on realizing this vision.
Is there anyone you would like to mention in this recognition?
Well, first of all, the colleagues in the port of Rotterdam because we have a great team working on this, I would say day and night in the port of Rotterdam itself. But also, colleagues that travel the whole world in order to scout the hydrogen projects for shipping the hydrogen towards the Port of Rotterdam.
And as the Port of Rotterdam, we cannot do it alone, so we work very close together with a lot of companies in the port, but also outside the port in order to get this realized.
So yeah, I would say all the companies that work together in order to make this vision in Rotterdam a reality, I would like to thank them very much.
What are the next steps to make the hydrogen economy a reality?
Well, we started with the vision, and we now see the first projects becoming realized, and I think the next step is to scale that up because we have a long way to go we’re just in the beginning and many, I hope to see many more millions of tons of hydrogen flowing through the port of Rotterdam.
Any final message you would like to share?
So, I would like to thank the organization in order to make this happen.
It’s really a very good summit and also very good fair to visit and to see what is happening within the Port of Rotterdam related to hydrogen, but also to hydrogen in in a broader sense.
So, thank you very much for that for making that happen and making that a reality.
Produced by the Sustainable Energy Council in partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, the City of Rotterdam and the Province of Zuid Holland, the global event welcomes 8000 industry professionals, 170+ Speakers, 350 Exhibitors and 50 sponsors to share latest news, establish key connections and sign business deals to accelerate the deployment of the hydrogen economy.
