Alex McIntosh is a Investment Director at the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), an Australian Government agency established to assist with the commercialisation of renewable energy technologies. Alex leads ARENA’s renewable hydrogen and low emissions metals portfolios. ARENA’s funding plays a pivotal role in the establishment of Australia’s hydrogen industry. Most recently, ARENA launched Hydrogen Headstart, a $2 billion program to catalyse Australia’s hydrogen industry by providing a production credit to bridge the commercial gap between the cost of producing renewable hydrogen and the market price.

Prior to ARENA Alex worked at KPMG advising companies on buy and sell-side transactions with a focus on energy, infrastructure, and private equity sectors across Asia Pacific.
