Christoph Hank joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in 2014 to evaluate the techno-economic and ecological performance of microbial electrolysis systems as part of his master’s thesis. Christoph then completed his doctorate at the Chair of Sustainable Systems Engineering at the University of Freiburg with a thesis on the techno-economic and ecological potential of Power-to-X processes and Carbon Capturing and Utilization (CCU) technologies.
Driven by the question of how we can meet our energy needs sustainably in the future, he is working at Fraunhofer ISE on the large-scale production and long-distance transportation of PtX energy carriers as a significant renewable energy source. In addition, he analyzes the environmental compatibility of the entire hydrogen value chain, including the sustainable production, distribution and use of hydrogen as part of integrated energy systems.
