Hermineke is general director Urban Development at the
Municipality of Rotterdam since 2019. Urban development is
building a strong economy and an attractive residential city,
with a heart for Rotterdam and the people who come to live
and work there. She was previously director of Sports and
Culture in Rotterdam, where she was involved in making the
city more attractive with sports, culture, nature and
recreation.
Hermineke previously worked for about 20 years in the field
of media, digitalisation and creative industries: at the Ministry
of Education, Culture and Science as director of Media and
Creative Industry, in the cabinet of commissioner Neelie
Kroes at the European Commission, at TNO (research
company), KRO (public broadcaster) and as a lecturer in
Communication Science at the Universaty of Amsterdam and
the Radboud University Nijmegen.
In addition to her work, she is a supervisor at the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and
Netherlands Radio Choir, the Watersnoodmuseum (Flood museum), the DEN foundation
(Knowlege institute for digitazation in the cultural sector), the Wadden Academy. She is a
board member of the Master City Developer (TU Delft and EUR Rotterdam), a member of the
Media Literacy Program Council and the Prinsenhof Delft renovation advisory council.
